Senior Citizen Audit PROGRAM

The Senior Citizen Audit Program was created by the Rutgers University Board of Governors to permit retired New Jersey residents, age 62 or older, to attend courses on a space-available, noncredit basis. There are no tuition costs for auditing courses.

Rutgers Business School–Newark and New Brunswick

The Rutgers Business School–Newark and New Brunswick experience is different from that of other top-ranked schools. At the business school, you’ll find nationally top-ranked programs in a wide range of fields including pharmaceuticals, finance, and supply chain management. Executive education programs include a range of certificate programs for executives and managers.

The goal of the School of Management and Labor Relations is to advance the world of work. The school's activities are facilitated by several centers and programs including the Strategic Human Resource Leadership Council, Center for Women and Work, Center for the Study of Collaboration in Work and Society, and Occupational Training and Education Consortium.

Center for Effective School Practices

The Center for Effective School Practices is a multidimensional school improvement organization that is part of the Graduate School of Education. The center features innovative, research-based initiatives that have been field-tested to improve pre-K through 12+ classroom and school organizational practices and advance achievement for all students.

Center for Mathematics, Science, and Computer Education

The Center for Mathematics, Science, and Computer Education works to systematically contribute to the improvement of mathematics, science, and computer education programs in New Jersey schools and in schools throughout the nation. The center fosters collaboration among educators and business leaders, practitioners and researchers to enhance the learning and teaching of mathematics and science and to demonstrate how technology can contribute to these goals.

Graduate School of Education

Since 1923, the Graduate School of Education has been a national leader in preparing educators. Featuring courses at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, locations throughout New Jersey, and online, the school offers doctoral, master’s, nondegree endorsement, and certification programs, as well as professional development opportunities for educators.

Public Policy and Service

Center for Executive Leadership in Government

The Center for Executive Leadership in Government works to strengthen the leadership capacity of municipal leaders in New Jersey and around the world. Its education and training programs, designed and facilitated by faculty and public sector professionals, meet the many, diverse needs of individuals who are responsible for delivering public and not-for-profit programs.

Center for Government Services

The Center for Government Services helps state and municipal officials and employees improve their knowledge, competency, and professionalism. For more than 60 years, it has offered noncredit programs in a variety of areas affecting public services, from finance to code enforcement to municipal administration and everything in between. Courses are taught by professional practitioners at locations throughout the state.

Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy

The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy is host to several nationally recognized research centers and collaborative programs. Many of the centers offer continuing education and training programs for government officials, nonprofit leaders, and career professionals, enabling the school to broaden its outreach efforts.

School of Criminal Justice

Crime and punishment, safety and security, deviance, social disorder, and civil rights—these are some of the most significant challenges facing our society. Addressing these complexities requires a multidisciplinary understanding and a collaborative approach that crosses all social, political, and economic boundaries. The School of Criminal Justice is home to a number of institutes, centers, and initiatives, all of which support research, learning, and outreach to the greater community.

School of Public Affairs and Administration

The School of Public Affairs and Administration is ranked 7th nationally in public administration and management, and is in the top 20 in specialty areas of information and technology management, budgeting and finance, and nonprofit management administration. The school, which offers a number of certificate programs, is a recognized leader in preparing managers and professionals for the government and nonprofit sectors.

School of Social Work

The School of Social Work has the largest university-based continuing education program for social workers in the country, with more than 300 workshops offered annually. Social workers and other human service professionals can participate in noncredit workshops and certificate programs at locations throughout New Jersey. The school also provides custom training for organizations.

Arts and Communications

iTV Studio

The Rutgers iTV Studio is a fully equipped digital HD television studio and editing facility with extensive field capabilities, satellite uplink, and fiber connectivity. The studio staff offers media training and TV production workshops and courses for professionals and students. Award-winning professionals working in the fields of broadcasting and media instruct classes.

Mason Gross School of the Arts Extension Division

The Mason Gross School of the Arts offers musicians, theater artists, dancers, and visual artists a creative space within a stimulating research university along with an intimate campus setting with easy access to—and participation in—New York City's dynamic cultural life. The Extension Division provides instruction in the arts to students of all ages and ability levels.

Program in American Language Studies (New Brunswick)

The Program in American Language Studies in New Brunswick provides high-quality English language instruction to nonnative English speakers for academic, professional, business, and social/acculturation purposes. The program strives not only to foster students' language competency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, but also to develop students' cultural understanding of the world at large and, in particular, of the United States.

Program in American Language Studies (Newark)

The Program in American Language Studies in Newark is an English as a Second Language program. The program has for more than 20 years provided exceptional English language teaching to international students and community citizens on the most diverse campus in the United States.

School of Communication and Information

Professional Development Studies (PDS) is the outreach and continuing education office for the School of Communication and Information. PDS offers a variety of certificate, nondegree, and degree programs that help individuals put information to work. Many programs are available fully online, and PDS also offers customized training in-house and online for individuals and organizations.

Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy Office of Continuing Education

The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy's Office of Continuing Education serves the educational needs of the pharmacy practitioners of New Jersey. The school is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology

Professional development and continuing education at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology is a unit of the Center for Applied Psychology. APA-approved continuing education credits for licensed psychologists and other mental health professionals are offered.

New Jersey Medical School Grand Rounds and Conferences

Faculty, staff, and community physicians are invited to participate in a range of continuing medical education programs, grand rounds, and conferences at the New Jersey Medical School.

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Grand Rounds and Conferences

In addition to grand rounds and conferences, many departments at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School offer continuing medical education programs.

Rutgers School of Dental Medicine Continuing Education

The Rutgers School of Dental Medicine helps dental health care practitioners maintain proficiency and keep up with the latest techniques, materials, and ideas in practice management.

School of Health Professions Advanced and Continuing Education

A comprehensive array of continuing education courses from single-session courses to advanced certificates in specific areas are offered at the School of Health Professions.  Credits earned toward many advanced certificates may be applied toward the school's degree programs and several certificates are offered jointly with other Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences schools.

The School of Nursing offers continuing education and professional development for nurses, faculty, and other health care professionals.

School of Nursing–Camden

The School of Nursing–Camden's School Nurse Certification program prepares these caregivers in their role of keeping children healthy, fit, and ready to learn.

The Wound Ostomy Continence Program prepares specialized nursing professionals for this rapidly growing area.

The School of Public Health's certificate programs offer postbaccalaureate students the opportunity to specialize in particular aspects of public health.

Center of Alcohol Studies

The Center of Alcohol Studies is known nationally and internationally as a leader in alcohol research, education and training, and documentation and publication of alcohol-related literature.

Youth Sports Research Council

The Youth Sports Research Council, a division of the Department of Kinesiology and Health at the School of Arts and Sciences, develops, synthesizes, and disseminates scientific research about the influence of physical activity and organized sports on the healthy development of children and adolescents. Our award-winning educational programs are designed for recreation directors, coaches, parents, and administrators of youth sports leagues.

Science, Engineering, and Environment

New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station

The New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station Office of Continuing Professional Education offers practical training in the areas of food safety and food product development, public health, landscape, turf, and pest and management; water resources, wetland delineation, environmental protection, equine science, and youth development. Its 300+ courses help professionals improve their skills and obtain licenses and certifications that can advance their careers.

Rutgers Advanced Technology Extension

The Rutgers Advanced Technology Extension (RATE) is the continuing education arm of Engineering, Sciences, and Technology of Rutgers University. Courses and certificate programs include professional engineer exam review, residential green energy, corporate sustainability, general engineering, information technology, web technologies, and entrepreneurship. RATE’s goal is to provide the most up-to-date professional and continuing education and to meet the need for life-long learning among scientists and engineers.

Rutgers’ intensive summer and winter terms offer matriculating students, non-Rutgers university students, and high school students the opportunity to fulfill a major requirement and earn credits toward a degree, improve a grade point average, or simply learn about a subject of interest.

University College Community (New Brunswick)

The University College Community at Rutgers–New Brunswick serves adults and nontraditional students, most of whom cannot have a traditional college experience because of their academic career, personal responsibilities, or demanding professional lives. University College Community serves students by providing direct access to the rich academic resources of Rutgers and fosters an intimate learning environment to promote academic excellence in undergraduate education for all nontraditional students.

University College–Newark

University College–Newark is designed for adult undergraduate students who have obligations during the day and seek to attend class in the evening or on Saturdays.

University College–Camden

University College–Camden provides an outstanding undergraduate education for working professionals, adults interested in enhancing their skills, and other individuals returning to the workforce or interested in changing careers. University College–Camden is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges Consortium for military veterans.

Visiting Students Program at Continuing Studies

The Visiting Students Program at Continuing Studies offers opportunities for nondegree study in the classroom and online during the fall and spring semesters for working professionals, students from other institutions, and current high school students with qualifying academic records. Classes are offered at locations throughout the state and online.
