Cancer Institute of New Jersey
The Cancer Institute of New Jersey is the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, a designation held by only 41 institutes nationwide. This mark of excellence in cancer care is granted competitively to institutions characterized by scientific distinction and the ability to bring research discoveries to patients.
University Behavioral Health Care
Part of Rutgers Health, University Behavioral Health Care, the state’s largest, most comprehensive behavioral health care system, serves every county in New Jersey.
Rutgers also offers behavioral health care through a variety of other centers and clinics.
Clinical Trials
We conduct scientific research studies that engage patients in the search for better ways to treat or prevent diseases. Rutgers supports nearly 350 clinical trials at any given time.
Our Clinical Research Organization is the gateway to our statewide clinical trial activities. The organization facilitates collaboration between industry and academia in designing and implementing clinical trials and helps patients find clinical trials at Rutgers.
For patients, participating in a clinical trial may enable you to play a more active role in your own health care, gain access to new research treatments before they are widely available, and help others by contributing to medical research.
Clinical Trials for Cancer
- More than 3,000 patients, or about 17 percent of adult cancer patients at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey and 70 percent of its pediatric patients participate in the institute’s clinical trials.

Special Needs Dental Care
Rutgers School of Dental Medicine operates one of the few dental facilities in the region treating patients with special needs, including autism, cerebral palsy, Alzheimer's disease, Down syndrome, and those with psychological disorders. Learn more here.
